Class Act Theatre Company

Embracing Individuality Through Performing Arts”

We are a community theatre company, established in 2014 by Chepstow director Louise Best.

Our Mission is to provide the opportunity for everyone in Chepstow and the surrounding areas to learn about and take part in Creative Arts. It is also to give the experience of taking part in live performance, working as a team, learning new skills and making friends. Finally, it is to invite anyone with an interest to take part without audition or previous experience.

The company is divided into two key sections:

  1. Class Act Theatre Company

  2. Class Act School of Acting

WHO ARE WE

More About Us
Three actors dressed as soldiers wearing boxing gloves and helmets are performing on stage, acting as if they are boxing. The stage background has a blue-lit scenic painting. Two women and one man are in the foreground, making exaggerated facial expressions. Two additional actors are in the background, one in military uniform and the other in a different costume.

What We Do

  • Theater stage scene with five actors, decorated with balloons and a banner that reads 'BON VOYAGE'. An older woman is seated on a sofa holding a large hat, while the others are standing around her, engaged in conversation. The set features framed pictures, columns, and a framed portrait, creating an elegant, vintage atmosphere.

  • “Moving to Chepstow only a few years ago, I was looking for somewhere that combined my love for the theatre with a thriving social community. Joining Class Act, not really knowing anyone, I felt very welcome from day one and was immediately given opportunities both on and off the stage, taking on more challenging roles as time went by. Class Act offers so much and being there has allowed me to make lifelong friends, and to really enjoy, not just a great community theatre group, but a fantastic group of people.”

Tom Fantom, Member of Class Act Theatre Company

  • “I might be an older group member… hang on, make that THE oldest member of Class Act, but I am actually still fairly new. I took early retirement two years ago and was keen to get back into performing for enjoyment and sheer escapism. Drama gives me an opportunity to challenge myself; overcoming backstage nerves, learning and remembering my lines (and the odd bit of choreography)! It’s great fun and I am astounded at the way a play comes together to give it ‘life’ in the final week of rehearsals. A director with vision and a talented bunch of actors is all that is required!”

Cathy Lewis, Member of Class Act Theatre Company

  • I joined Class Act in 2024 with no prior acting experience other than a school production of Les Mis where I played 'Sailor Number 4'. I joined with the hope of building my confidence on stage; I've got so much more than that! I've made amazing friends and Louise has helped me develop my acting skills in so many ways; I can't thank her enough! It has been a joy, rehearsing and performing. I have just finished a performance as the lead role in Present Laughter (never in a million years did I think I could deliver a lead performance on stage). Class Act is a fantastic group of people who are so supportive and encouraging of each other, I couldn't recommend it more!

Toby Burnett-Fielding, Member of Class Act Theatre Company

  • "I joined Class Act to see if I could learn some new things about acting having been in societies previously. What I found was more than just a group who would expand my understanding of theatre, I also found a support network, a safe space and the most fun you can have on a Wednesday. I would reccomend this group to anyone who has or has not tired acting before. Aside from learning a new skill, Class Act gives you social and life opportunities you won't get anywhere else. A revelation."
